Prof. Flávio Silva presented during the 18th ACM International Conference on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems (ACM MSWiM 2015) the work "SDN Based Control Plane Extensions for Mobility Management Improvement in Next Generation ETArch Networks"
The work presents an extension to the Mobility Manager, a software component of the ETARCH control plane. The extension, called Quality-oriented Mobility Management Approach (QoMMA), supports quality-oriented handover management. This enables a network-initiated mobility control that improves resources allocation and execute a quality-oriented access point selection. The QoMMA also performs a mobility load balancing in order to maximize admissions of mobile sessions in conditions of congestion.
The conference was held in Cancun and during the event it was possible to meet several researchers, present the ongoing work of the MEHAR Group and talk about new collaboration opportunities.
