Mission to the First Brazil Ireland Science Week

Between February, 23 and 28, the Professors Pedro Rosa and Flávio Silva visited Dublin, at Ireland, in order to participate in the First Brazil Ireland Science Week representing the Minas Gerais state.

The mission goal was to prospect international research collaborations opportunities between Minas Gerais and Ireland.

Besides participating in the conference, the professors visited the Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and specific meetings were conducted with researchers form these intuitions in order to find know about their research and present the work conducted in Minas Gerais by the MEHAR Group.

At the TCD the professors had meetings at the CTVR hosted by Prof. Dr. Luiz DaSilva. It was an opportunity to have a closer look in their lines of research and work. The professors found intersections and complementary skills that can materialize into new collaborations with Ireland.

The meeting at WIT where held with the Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG - www.tssg.org/). Both TSSG and the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), participate in projects related to Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (FI-PPP), the projects XIFI and FIWARE respectively. Thus, the visit allowed expanding conversations and previous interactions with WIT.

According to Prof. Flávio Silva, "during the visit it was possible to know different possibilities of collaboration with Ireland. The mission allowed we represent the state of Minas Gerais and identify opportunities for collaboration between institutions from Minas Gerais and Ireland in areas such as Sustainable Energy & Agriculture, Biotechnology & Health and in particular Information and Communication Technologies”.
